Marietta Van Natta is a local artist and Calvert County resident since 1979. Having successfully taught public school for 14 years in various classroom settings, such as self-contained, modified open-space, gifted Math and Science, Marietta accepted an opportunity to teach just art. She obtained an “Art, K-12 Endorsement” to her Maryland State Teaching Certificate by taking 30 graduate hours of studio art courses and passing the National Teachers Exam in Art Education. For the next 18 years Marietta taught interrelated art enrichment in the Talented and Gifted program in Prince George’s County Public Schools delivering a program combining art and the core subjects with an ongoing goal to show that art education enhances learning. From painting on glass, cutting tessellations, throwing paint, as did Pollock, she will try anything once.
